Job Title: RBI (Risk Based Inspection)
ENGINEER
Salary Grade 9,000 SAR - 12,000 SAR
BASIC pm
Division / Department: APC .
Employment Type: FULLTIME
Direct Manager: MANAGER, Reliability.
 Duty Hours: 48 Hours a week
Location : KSA
 Experience : Minimum 10 years .
 PURPOSE
The purpose of Risk based inspection strategy is to improve plant reliability and to
optimize inspection intervals based on site-acceptable risk levels and operating limits,
while mitigating risks as appropriate.
Hence to carry out a detailed study of existing RBI related equipment and their
reliability as well as operational performance concerns.
Then, incorporate the best parts from existing reliability programs and build upon them
to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the assets.
The study shall aim to identify key issues affecting those equipment including asset
reliability and integrity, premature failures, inspection costs, replacement costs and
operational performance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identification of Corrosion Loops (CLs) (process, MOC, damage mechanism etc.) and
create mark-up drawings in digital format.
• Any missing piping and equipment in the system shall be identified from
• P&ID and updated in SAP.
• Assign potential damage mechanism and critical process parameters (CPP) to each
corrosion loop in Gas standard format.
• Create piping circuits as per piping circuitization guidelines in the Gas template.
• Identify all the equipment and piping applicable for RBI assessment as per the
guidelines.
• Identify dead legs, injection points, mixing points, Soil to air interface, small- bore
piping and assign corresponding SAP class to each type.
• Upload all the piping circuits in SAP.
• Generate inspection strategies for above listed special piping based on API codes.
• Mark all the CMLs on isometric drawings and mark the CMLs at site by CML stickers.
• Document the Isometric drawings of each piping circuit in individual folder with piping
circuit number.
• Carry out baseline thickness survey of piping & equipment at established CMLs prior to
RBI assessment.
• Upload the thickness readings in Meridium GE TM module by creating TM groups.
• Upload baseline inspection report with inspection profiles in Meridium GE IM module.
• Upload all corrosion loops in Meridium GE along with assigned potential degradation
mechanism.
• Create RBI components for piping circuits and equipment in Meridium GE and link
those components to Corrosion loops before starting RBI assessment.
• Collect the design, operating, process data for each RBI component in compliance
with guidelines in API 581.
• Conduct workshops for evaluating consequences failure of all assets with the team.
• Evaluate probability of failure of each RBI component based on the available
thickness data and similar equipment history in other plants.
• Conduct RBI assessment in Meridium GE .

Generate and consolidate RBI recommendation before sending for owner approval.
• Create inspection task after approval of RBI recommendation.
• Implement the inspection task in SAP.
• Gas technical team will review the quality of work upon completion of each activity.
Contractor shall mark a hold point for Gas technical team.
• Contractor shall comply with GAS safety rules and contractor management policy.
• All the personal employed by the contractor shall have safety induction
• course conducted by GAS. The contractor staff shall familiarize with the plant entry
requirements by coordinating with the Industrial security department and RC area.
 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Minimum Competence Requirement
• Corrosion engineer shall have adequate experience in developing corrosion loops.
• Candidates should have at least 10 years’ experience as RBI engineer.
• RBI engineer shall have API 580 certification.
• RBI engineer shall be knowledgeable with guidelines in API 581.
• RBI team should be knowledgeable in codes such as API 510, 570 & API 571.
• RBI team shall possess experience in utilization of Meridium GE software.
